Not sure if it counts as short term or long term memory loss but it is difficult to recall what we have done over the past week. The old adage that " Blue Water Cruising" is just maintaining your boat in a better climate is very true although hopefully many of the jobs are improvements as much as maintenance. We may even haul out for a couple of days to antifoul and check seacocks etc.
Wednesday we walked to Puerto del Carmen in search of a more reasonable supermarket than the one on site and by chance we also found a local cafe/bar where the stop for a quick refreshment turned into a very pleasant ( and cheap! ) lunch.

The celebration was due on Thursday evening as it was exactly one year since we finished at AYC which in the time frame seems impossible but geographically it feels ( and I suppose is! ) very distant. After a drink in the cockpit we sauntered along to an Argentinean restaurant where we had superb steaks and salads. It has been fun to receive emails from so many of the friends we have made over the years - our apologies if we have not replied yet! Many thanks for all your support and comments.

Along at the far end of the marina there are about 14 identical carbon racing yachts being prepared for the RC44 Worlds- looking at the website these are seriously expensive big-boys toys!

Unwrapping after transport from Valencia                      Russian team polishing!

Apparently the race budget is £0.75million per boat per annum! The carbon masts are in two sections for transport and the standing rig is all lightweight PBO fibre - the all up weight of mast and rigging is only 100kgs!

I'm not sure if the Scots are perceived as an impoverished nation or we just look so as we have been the recipients of "food parcels" from a couple of yachts where the owners have flown home! In fact this is a normal cruiser routine and we did it ourselves when we left the boat in Pavoa.
Saturday night we had a dinner invitation from a Scottish friend who now lives here although about 18 years ago I sold him a boat at Ardfern! Needless to say there was much reminiscing and jollity!
