We left Rubicon late morning with the intention of going to anchor for a few days off the beach at the South point of Lanzarote but the swell breaking on the sand indicated that it would not be very peaceful so we headed round the corner and North to Puerto Calero. We were in Lanzarote about 22 years ago when the bulldozers were working on the site so it was interesting to enter the marina.

A simple and friendly check in and we were directed to a berth at the North of the marina. I decided to moor stern first on the finger which is always an interesting manoeuvre in "Moonbeam" which luckily went off without drama except for the fact that the 'yachtie' from the adjacent yacht who took our warps turned out to be retired from the marine trade and he sat on the BMF Management Board with me for a few years! An excuse for a beer or more!
The marina is more established than Rubicon and has lots of trees and shrubs amongst the shore development although it has less berths.
Saturday and Sunday was spent finally sorting out the (water) leak in the new Rib; repairing sections of Tek Dek and adding an additional strut to the 'bimini' cockpit cover- all in extremely hot conditions---it's OK, we are not looking for sympathy!
