A week has gone by remarkably quickly! A car was hired for Wednesday and Thursday and teenage dreams of driving a Chevrolet were finally realised. However Chuck Berry did not sing about a Chevrolet Matiz and although we managed 95 it was only km per hour and not mph! Luckily we did not have to pull the skin off a rice pudding on our travels but it trundled the 3 of us around Madeira's roads mainly in 2nd and 3rd gear!

Some situation for a hotel!

Two more walks were walked and the great variety of Madeira's scenery was investigated; although most of the summer flowers were over the island is beautiful and the islander's ability to build roads and houses in the most difficult places has to be marvelled at. Hopefully the photos will indicate the variety of scenery and encourage anyone who has not been to the island to visit. We stayed on the island 23 years ago and certainly with EU assistance the roads and tunnels are many times better than then!
Ian left us on Friday to head back to France and we spent the day on boat jobs before 'Rainmaker' joined us for dinner aboard Moonbeam.

Next destination is Graciosa off Lanzarotte with a possible stop at the Selvagem Islands.
