“Shian” left early in the morning to head for St.Maarten and we wandered into the town where the streets had obviously been cleaned overnight! We took an island tour from a guy in a beat up Nissan and we wondered if it would break down in some inaccessible spot but after 3 hours we had seen most of the tourist sights including the gardens of Rodney Manor.

Basseterre is perhaps not an inspiring town but very friendly and becoming re vitalised with the cruise ship visitors who take tours in taxis and on catamarans but it also brings the inevitable shops selling duty free diamonds, spirits and plenty of tourist tat!
