The pilot says that Seal Harbour is an uncomfortable place to spend the night and it was right! I thought the forecast wind would hold us bow to the swell but of course the wind died to nothing! After a rolly night we saw the boatman going round hoisting the American Ensign on the Rockafeller yachts! A lovely harbour but good for a lunch stop!

We set off back to Southwest Harbour in the damp and mist and jumped on the bus for a tour down to Bass Harbour where I had been with Iain and “Escapade” then back to top up stores before heading around to the west “quiet” side of Mount Desert Island where we anchored in the very pretty ‘Pretty Marsh Harbour’ in glorious sunshine and roasting temperatures- only one other yacht there in the middle of the Maine summer season!

We sat in the cockpit and watched a Bald Headed Eagle fishing and seals chasing fish in circles! A glorious evening in superb surroundings.
