We had enjoyed our time in Puerto Rico where within a few miles you have both lovely country side and urban sprawl. We thought that navigating by car would be easy when we were told to "turn left at the Burger King" ! What we did not know was that there was a Burger King every junction or so it seemed- certainly there were plenty of " fast food " joints!

We left Sunbay Marina on Friday morning having paid our dues and checked out with immigration with the intention of starting the 400 mile sail to Turks and Caicos. However we then heard the weather forecast suggesting that strong winds would effect the T and Cs as we were due to arrive which was not what we wanted! So we motored over to Isla Palomino and picked up a mooring with the intention of waiting 24 hours for the weather to pass; however the forecast indicated strong winds further south so now the plan is to leave on Tuesday!

Isla Palominos is a private resort island and when we arrived only a couple of the moorings were occupied but by midday on Saturday the "Puerto Rican Navy" was out to play with maybe a hundred boats anchored in the bay, mainly off the beach south of our mooring.

Mainly glossy power boats the locals use here to party and laughter and loud music carried on until the early hours! Just astern of us one boat inflated a small "island" where they sat and drank all afternoon!

                                                                                                         Even a Pizza Boat arrived!

Near our mooring was what appeared to be a small select resort and on Saturday night they had a firework display and sang 'Happy Birthday' but Lynn refused to believe I had arranged it especially.

Monday morning we  woke to find all the boats gone so we went to the beach , where we disturbed a 3ft iguana which was having a wash down in the surf.
