We had to leave the marina for a night to allow racing boats to overnight so as the forecast was windy we went to seek shelter up the ria to Combarro where we anchored off. We had the gang on board as it was Yannick’s 7th birthday.
We had a very bumpy anchorage in 4 metres, the fog and mist rolled in and the wind increased. The birthday boat BBQ was rapidly disappearing.
At 1700 we decided the best option was to go into the marina and although we could not use the BBQ we could at least cook the gambas and spare ribs on the cooker and an electric plate using shore power.
We checked the polarity of the shore power before hooking up to find it reversed—all very boring as skipper had to make up an adaptor.
We had an excellent birthday party on board out of the wind and fog.
birthday cake and candles
and then all to bed
In the morning with much better weather there was a quick walk around Combarro

and a trip to the beach on the way back down the ria.  We met Nadine’s parents back at Sanxenxo who had driven across from Madrid.
Katinka decided that she wanted to stay on the boat for another night and so after an excellent supper we retired to the boat at 2330.
Katinka slept until 1000.
Next day off to the beach again seeing dolphins on the way before anchoring off.
The hammock was rigged for Bruno
Tom and Yannick took to the paddle board
and Tom departed the board soon after
Yannick showed good style
The dinghy party rowed ashore
