This morning we motored, towing the dinghy, to find Camelot who had anchored on the western side of the reef surrounding Tahaa. They were about to move north to anchor and snorkel near one of the islands on the reef, however the coral bommies were everywhere so that site was abandoned and we continued to another spot where we picked up an hotel mooring buoy some way out, on the inside edge of the reef. We went ashore by dinghy to the hotel which was beautiful but deserted and saw a stingray at close quarters on the way. We were hoping to find a place to stay for a couple of days but decided to move on to an inlet on the Eastern side of the island where there is a restaurant, turtle sanctuary and pearl farm along with some diving and snorkeling, so we are on a mooring for two nights in Baie de Haamene.
