Yesterday we left the delightful small town of Viana do Castelo after going to the top of a large hill by funicular railway to see the church and generally seeing the old town, with very attractive little streets and squares. We motored out and then sailed here along the featureless coast through the minefields of lobster pots and wave machine trials (marked with cardinal marks but we had to go further out to avoid them) to arrive in a large container port and oil terminal with a small marina in the corner, the only way to see Oporto apparently.
We went out for supper in a tiny little restaurant just outside the port gates run by a Portugese fisherman's wife and had sardines and sea bass all grilled with potatoes and some sort of greens! Off to Oporto today.
