This evening we fly to New Zealand after a “relaxing” week with Henry and Livi, Rufus, Kit and Leo. Unfortunately Mark picked up an ear infection (both ears) at George’s house, probably caused by the demolition of the lathe and plaster ceilings, and then caught Kit’s cold and so with deafness and a sore throat he has been unable to hear or speak! We spent Friday recovering from the flight - infinitely more relaxing than the Lufthansa flight in April - then on Saturday we took the boys to the zoo. Singapore has the most amazing zoo, the animals have room to move and the polar bear has a freezing swimming pool - probably achieved by a heat exchanger.

On Sunday there was only one place to be - Changi Sailing Club, not much wind but Henry hired a catamaran so we had a sail (he has sold the Taipan as small children and fast cats don’t mix!).

The rest of the week has been a round of school for Rufus, playgroup for Kit and smiling from Leo, it all takes us back 30 years! The house is very comfortable for the climate with big overhanging roofs, tiled floors ( a bit hard for a crawling baby but easily cleaned!) and fans everywhere.

The real Christmas tree (from the USA) is up and the lights are on - in all this heat!
