We are still in Oban marina listening to the shipping forecast that gets worse not better!
The main shipping forecast for sea area Malin was South East gale 8 veering westerly severe gale 9 perhaps storm 10 later. Rough, very rough and high.
The inshore forecast yesterday for our area was:
General situation: After a quiet spell very deep areas of low pressure for late May and early June will bring a very disturbed and windy weather pattern for several days.
South East backing West 4 to 5 increasing 8, occasionally severe gale 9 . Slight becoming rough, very rough later occasionally high. Rain.
Next 24 hours: W 6-8 occasionally severe gale 9 at first veering south 4-5 later. Rough, very rough and high in North West. Rain.
This morning (Sunday) the next 24 hours is predicted to be the same and then again for the subsequent 24 hours.
All this is not helped by people saying that this time last year it was 23 degrees and lovely sailing winds !

However the weather will improve as next weekend we leave the boat here and go inland to see friends in Pitlochry, where Helen used to work when she went North to escape me after we first met !! Then to Inverness to meet up with a gang of farmers who we meet up with every year in different parts of the country—this year Scotland.
Helen has a few stock phrases which are repeated with regular monotony:

I told you it would be like this.
I am never going North of Falmouth again.
When you have seen one loch/hill/mountain you have seen them all.
The forecast says that it is sunny in Falmouth and Brittany.
I rest my case—(as the rain pours out of the sky)

On the plus side we are not fighting over the hot water bottle as we have made a major investment in a second hottie and the boat heater works——albeit only intermittently.

This is the Oban Marina to Oban ferry——the ferry man has yet to smile, say please or thank you. It must be living with this weather that makes him so dour!
