We left Manihi at 1300 on 1 May 2012 thirty six
years after a passage down the aisle!
Gunnar dived down on our chain and anchor and
unwound us----he had a red float and when it was on the surface we could lift
our chain and when it disappeared we had to wait while he unwrapped us from more
coral and rock. Our wedding anniversary night was
spent at sea with us passing in the boat every three hours as we changed watch.
We were sailing west so the prevailing south east trades were to give us a good
sail---it blew from the west with rain and electrical storms for most of the
night with a beam reach sail for the last couple of hours.
The anniversary dinner was:
Fray Bentos chicken and mushroom pie
One carrot deftly cut into slices to make it look
more
White cabbage remains that should have gone
overboard weeks ago
Smash instant potatoe
Coco Cola light and coco cola full fat
Coffee and carrot cake
Music---Yanmar diesel band accompanied by the
Electric Light Orchestra.
We entered the lagoon at 1100 this morning with a
three knot tide and are now anchored off the beach and a very smart hotel. Helen
wants to jump ship for a night!
Provisions are running low so hopefully will find
some stores tomorrow.
