We really enjoyed Istanbul, the Hotel Katelya in the Sultanahmet District was excellent and we could walk everywhere. On Saturday we went to the Grand Bazaar, the Suleyman Mosque and the Spice Bazaar, and walked over the river at the south end of the Bosphorus connecting the old town and the new. On Sunday we did the Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofia and the Tokapi Palace -home of the Sultans.
A local Travel Agent company (called Before) has given us a five day itinerary in order to reach Marmaris on Friday so early this morning we set off for Eceabat and thence to Troy which is not rated in the Lonely Planet - despite being a World Heritage Site - but it was amazing! We had an excellent guide who showed us the various layers of the City, destroyed by earthquakes several times.
We are staying in the Grand Hotel in Eceabat - which is not grand at all!
