We have spent a few days in Crosshaven as the weather has been unpredictable and the winds mainly from the south have made relaxed anchoring rather difficult on this out coast.
We caught the local bus into Cork and had a wander around. A lovely city that has managed to retain many of the local shops in narrow back streets but with a few “department” stores in the main drags. There was not a lot to see, unless we missed it, but even the local Tourist Information office was not inspiring.

There was a very good market, recently visited by the Queen, where we bought some fish
The Royal Cork Yacht Club was the hotspot for a wedding on Friday. The bride wore a peach coloured, lacy full length wedding dress but the groom was noticeable by his absence. We discovered afterwards that there was no groom but instead another “bride”—it was a single sex wedding! When we went North up the Irish coast in early May, Ireland was about to vote on single sex weddings. The vote was in favour and apparently this wedding was one of the first, if not the first!
We decided to sail to Kinsale, about 18 miles west, and stay there for a few days before returning to Crosshaven for a weekend ashore with friends. The forecast looked good and we had a good sail over this morning (Monday). However we are unable to show you the delights of Kinsale —it started to rain when we arrived and then the fog descended so this is all we have seen! None of your sun and 30 degrees plus here! Surprise, surprise !!

We hope to “see” Kinsale in the morning!!
