Boom acting as genny pole.

We are well and truly ''marinated'' here at Puerto de Mogan on the southern tip of Gran Canaria after a night sail from Gran Tarajal, Fuerteventura. After leaving Gran Tarajal at midday we sailed down the coast with little wind, giving us time to try using the boom to hold the genny. After rounding the tip of Fuerteventura the wind picked up as did the swell and we rolled and then surged our way between the islands making between six and eight knots boatspeed, the wind varied between 12 and 22 knots, with a full moon giving us light all the way and, an added bonus,  it was lovely and warm. We arrived in this pretty marina at about ten this morning, the houses are covered with lots of bouganvillea and hibiscus flowers, although the showers are dire, so showering on the boat is a must due to the prevalence of cockroaches here. There is a beach with yellow sand and no big hotel developments (yet). We are planning to stay here for four days and hire a car and see Gran Canaria with Paul and Rhu from Oyster Moon, we also want to go to Las Palmas and see the ARC "circus", 250 boats are preparing to leave for St. Lucia on the 17th November.
The marina is a pontoonless marina. We were shown a berth down the end of a narrow approach between the boats and then a space ideal for a small dinghy. Anyway we bit the bullet and managed to reverse in prising apart the boats on either side.. Fortunately there was very little wind and with the prop walk and the bowthruster the task was accomplished with no shouting or fending off panics! The tightest fit yet and even getting out will be interesting.
