After a month of calm seas within the reefs of the Society Islands the passage to Rarotonga was more of a challenge than expected. We left Bora Bora on Tuesday, beating into a very confused sea with 20+ knots of wind (the wind is much denser here as it can hold more moisture so it seems stronger). After two days the wind moved onto the beam and the sea moderated, but there was no consistency of direction or strength so frequent sail changes were required. We reached the island at lunch time today having motored the last twelve hours for lack of wind. The harbour is closed as they are doing major reclamation works so we are anchored outside with two Dutch boats. Camelot is 24 hours behind us.
