Thorco Svendborg finally arrived at Marmaris on Friday late afternoon.
We then waited ''patiently'' for our turn to be unloaded. Two boats were unloaded on Saturday and it blew very hard (Force 9) on Sunday and the forecast was bad for Monday.
We woke on Monday morning to hear the rain still pouring down and at 0900 called the agent to ask if we could go on board to do one or two things to Marita prior to launching. To our amazement we were told that they had been unloading boats since 0100---skippers and crews roused from their hotel beds around Marmaris in the middle of the night. As Marita was on the bow and going to be last off we were told that Tuesday morning was a possibility for unloading. We went to the ship and changed some anodes and cleaned the propeller on Marita and at 1200 the loadmasters stopped unloading and went to rest. At 1800 they started again and at 1830 we were called at the hotel and told that we would probably be unloaded at about 2300. A quick supper and off to the ship.
It was pitch dark
and there were about 6 yachts left to unload
at about 2300 there were two left---a Halberg Rassy (Reflections) and Marita
In went Reflections
and then Marita was prepared. The slings had to be shortened on the boom and that took some time
and then the boom was positioned
and up she went
and over the side
we were allowed to step on board when she was alongside and before the final drop---not strictly allowed but the laodmasters thought it preferable to us going down a rope ladder in the pitch dark---so did Helen!
The ship was left with empty decks---a scene of carnage
and we motored to an anchorage off the beach rather than going to the Marina.
We awoke in the morning after a very cold night, the duvet was under a mass of sail bags, to the sight of Marmaris town
and Marmaris beach
and a gullet anchored next to us
A hair raising experience but no damage this time to boat, skipper or crew!

The yacht parts (strops and slings etc) were all offloaded onto the dock first thing in the morning to await another ship which was going to load boats and take them to Genoa and Mallorca.
Thorco Svendborg then sailed for Morocco with the oil rig parts that were in her hold and which had been loaded in Thailand.
