We are well and truly marinated here at Rodney Bay
marina trying to get some work done to the boat----everyone is on island time
except us and it is very frustrating sitting on the boat waiting for people to
arrive who do not turn up. After 4 days we have ticked two items off our list
with 3 items to go, one of which incudes a repair to the watermaker----the spare
part is somewhere between Southampton and St Lucia either with Fedex or stuck in
customs awaiting a sweetener to get it released!!
We have no photos of St Lucia as we have not been
anywhere yet but below are a few ----more will follow.
We sailed from Fort de France to Petit Anse
d'Arlet, and anchored for three days---lovely clear water.
There was a lovely church, beautifully kept so
obviously some good benefactors.
We found a good beach bar with wifi so caught up
with emails etc. The local kids were playing in and around the
water.
We then sailed to Rodney Bay and arrived Monday
lunctime after a four hour sail -----wind still at 20 knots+ !! This is where
the ARC arrive after their Atlantic crossing so we have met up with a few of the
boats that we met in the Canary Islands. We just missed the World Arc who set
off on Sunday, their first leg being 1,000+ miles to the San Blas islands off
Panama. We are quite relieved that we are not with them as apparently they were
mostly 50 foot plus boats and therefore a lot faster. We would have been playing
catch up the whole time.
Oskar from Camelot (the Norwegian boat) had his 13
th birthday yesterday and we all caught a bus ( at least that is what they
call a rather dilapidated 12 seater) to an excellent Chinese restaurant in
the next village.
He enjoyed the cake that had been especially baked
for him
Helen has been buying fruit and veg from the
travelling salesman!
