We arrived here this afternoon after an eight hour sail from Puerto de Mogan, Gran Canaria. We collected a souvenir in Mogan in the form of a cockroach which appeared in the boat last night despite our best endeavours to keep them away. The no shoes policy and sprays and detergents were insufficient---we are hoping it did not have any mates!
After today's sail we can confirm that the windex is fully functional and operates consistently well between 5 knots and 29 knots, indeed especially well at the top end of the scale! The wind acceleration zones round these islands are interesting to say the least and can increase normal wind speed by up to 15 knots in a matter of minutes or yards.
Wolfgang and Corinna (s/v Moin)are here at the marina and will now be sailing with us to Cape Verde and then across to Antigua. We last saw them at Cape St Vincent when they sailed off to Morocco.
I have now seen another marina from the top of a mast---the dish aerial on Oyster Moon had come adrift in the turbulent seas and was hanging by a wire. Up I went!!
