We have been at anchor for a week now, monitoring batteries and using the generator to keep them charged, however they take longer and longer to charge up so something has to be done! The sun is still shining and although the nights have been cooler this week it is still a lovely temperature during the day.
On Thursday we met up with Rupert and Charlotte White who have found a lovely b&b just outside Pria da Luce, as they had a car they drove to Ferragudo and we picked them up in the dinghy and went for a sail. It is lovely to see good friends out here, we then anchored back in the bay had a swim and went to one of the three beach bar/restaurants for supper.
On Wednesday evening we met up with Stephen on his catamaran, Karacool and invited him for supper the next day then yesterday we came back from a trip up the river (very boring as three low bridges meant there was nothing except mud flats to see apart from a whole lot of storks sitting around) to find Oyster Moon anchored behind us. These are the other boats we are sailing with across the Atlantic and onwards so we invited them all over last night for a barbecue. Mark fixed the barbecue up for the second time and everyone arrived, whereupon the barbecue did a lurch and three pieces of chicken went to feed the crabs and the gas bottle fell off into the sea. Luckily the gas bottle floated so Stephen lept into the dinghy and retrieved it, but the cooking was then done below on the stove by guess who! I had expanded the food quantities with a pasta salad so luckily there was enough to eat.We all talked on into the night - a big candle saving the battery power and then retired to our various boats.
