Yesterday Niall and Janie arrived at 11.30am after a 3am start from home. Mark picked them up from the town beach as we were anchored outside the breakwater. It was good to see them and we had lunch before sailing here, an easy reach across the bay. After going some way upriver we decided to anchor inside the breakwater with some other boats as it was and is spring tides.
After supper we had an early night disturbed by two competing discos till 6am!
This morning we took the dinghy upriver to Portimao, not an exciting place but we reprovisioned and then had a sardine lunch in the very pretty fishing village opposite, Ferragudo, which could be twinned with Flushing! Tonight is the sardine festival at Ferragudo and all the fishing boats have been dressed with palms and flags----bit like the Flushing harbour race. We walked through the village and swam from the beach before coming back to the boat.
The cockpit shower fiiting has been temporarily fixed which has also had the added advantage of curing the leak. The windex has packed up gain despite new mast cable---the black data box will now be returned to the UK with Niall.
