We escaped the boatyard last night and anchored off Lagos beach in company with Maximllian who left this morning for Faro and all ports onward to Gibraltar so this time it really was farewell.
The hydrovane has been fixed, although the angle to the boat may need adjustment and the water towed generator is now fixed on the pushpit in it's gimbal frame and wired and ready to go. The new cable for the windex is also fitted, hopefully it will solve the problem, if not the databox has to go back to the UK.
Martin Syrett and family arrive here today for a week at the Mark Warner Village near Lagos, so we will spend some time with them, activities permitting!
We are now awaiting the arrival of the Admiral and his wife (Niall and Janie Kilgour) so we have spent the morning cleaning the boat ready for inspection and trying to fix the cockpit shower----it was blocked because a rubber fitting inside it had slipped round over the outlet but we cannot get a watertight seal on the joints. Somebody has had a go at it before and it is all a mass of sealants and goodness knows what. To use the Norwegians terminology it is FUBAR. A replacement will be required.
The sun is shining and the sea is 22 degrees -at last!
