We left Nisos Tilos at a slightly more civilised hour, 07.20 and motored round the top of the island. We had 55 miles to go to reach Astipalaia but the wind was on the nose, with a moderate sea running which became more lumpy as the day wore on. We had another day of tacking in stronger winds than the day before, 15-23 knots, and after 14 hours and 74 miles we arrived in the dark at Port Gialos, a really lovely small town on the south side of the island.
