We crossed the Singapore Straits yesterday with Henry, Livie, Rufus and Kit on board as an aid to concentration! They had come over To Nongsa Point Marina the night before on the high speed ferry and after supper on board Marita with Camelot we all ''tried'' to sleep in 34 degrees of heat and high humidity. Everyone was on fighting form the next morning for the 21 mile passage!
After clearing immigration we left at 1030 Singapore time and motored west along the Straits, Rufus at the helm, and then crossed the main traffic separation lane at right angles----it was like crossing a busy motorway at low speed and we had to linger in the central reservation as 900 foot tankers passed ahead and astern.
We the crossed the Southern Fairway, still busy but with smaller ships, and made our way to the position for Western Quarantine and Immigration where we were approached by a high speed patrol boat who received our papers in a crab net. After about 15 minutes they were returned and we were officially cleared into Singapore. By 1530 we were tied up in Nongsa Point Marina close to a super yacht that had a helicopter on board which was all wrapped up in a sun blanket!!
We are now in air conditioned luxury at Henry and Livie's home.
