Today the crew rebelled! We woke to rain and mist in the Real Nautico Marina, the showers were so awful we showered on the boat, the promised swimming pool was municipal and green and the club was very run down. Mark wanted to go up the Ria, under the bridge and into a lake at the top. I could not see the point -bitten by mosquitoes, damp and soggy, the sun was shining out to sea so we came to Bayona, where Christopher Columbus landed having found the New World in a boat not much bigger than Marita! There is a replica of the Pinto here, the Matthew looks big in comparison. The sun is shining and there are beaches and cafes so the crew is happy. The Club Nautico here has a lovely new Clubhouse and facilities alongside their marina whereas in Vigo and La Corunna the old buildings were crumbling and underused. The facilities for children learning to sail in Spain are amazing.
