We were delighted to hear at 5am this morning that George has asked Harriet to marry him - and she has said Yes. Our congratulations and love to them both, we will have to celebrate with them at Christmas in Thailand.

Yesterday we flew on a very small old plane to Tanna island, and then a four wheel drive truck ride for 2 hours to the volcano on Mt. Yasur. It is the closest anyone can get to a volcano anywhere in the world - we stood on the lip and watched hot red rocks being belched into the sky, the ground shaking beneath our feet. The drive took us through villages unchanged since the stone age, everything grows well on the fertile soil, fruit and vegetables were for sale at the side of the road and there were wild pigs, goats and cows grazing alongside the "road". In one village they were preparing for a feast, everyone had palm mats rolled up to sleep on and faces were painted in bright colours - apparently some 4&5 year old boys were to be circumcised.
We returned at sunset, glad to be back on Marita, photos to follow.
