We arrived at Vuda Point marina and said a sad
farewell to Nicholas before being hauled out for repairs and
antifouling.
She was surprisingly clean (3 coats of Micron
Extra in March 2011!) after 15 months in cold and warm
waters.
Then we set about the repairs. The stern tube had
to be removed
which after a lot of difficulty was successfully
accomplished. The hole was a perfect circle---it caused a lot of interest in the
marina and many yachtsmen pontificated as to the cause but the majority opted
for a metal imperfection rather than electrolysis as the propeller and shaft
looked ok
Meanwhile Joshua, a local lad, was helping
clean and antifoul the boat
she was then returned to her natural
environment
and we eased our way into a rather tight
mooring
and we returned to the boat after 3 nights in the
adjacent First Landing Resort hotel !!
