Yesterday we braved the wind and rain to sail the thirty miles to Bora Bora. It was a good fast, if wet, sail with a short stretch of bigger seas between the islands. We came through the only pass into the lagoon here at about 3.30pm. After circling the lagoon we picked up a mooring outside the Noa Noa Hotel, near the village of Vaitape. The wind howled for the first part of the night making us glad we were on a mooring. This morning we went to Church, where all 300 of the congregation were in white as it was Whitsunday. The service was in Polynesian so we only understood Maruru (thank you) and Amen! Afterwards we took the dinghy to Bora Bora Yacht Club for lunch. We are hoping to stay here on Bora Bora for a week before the six day passage to Raratonga in the Cook Islands.
