This island is lovely, the population is a mixture of Dutch and others, with a really friendly atmosphere without the poverty and resentment seen elsewhere.  There are green parrots in the trees, pink flamingoes on the salt flats and the snorkelling is spectacular, as is the diving, apparently.  There is a big fishing competition this weekend, the record fish caught in previous years is 803lbs, if this record is beaten the prize is a Toyota pick up. They can use dead bait and lures, but the time is limited, 7.30am until 4.30pm
and all fish below 300lbs must be photographed and released!  The boats are huge stinkboats with 3 steering positions and high platforms. They are fishing for Blue Marlin, Dorado, Tuna and Wahoo.
We are hoping to hire a pickup and go to the National Park this weekend.  KLM fly here from Amsterdam regularly and there are good facilities and supermarkets for a change.=
