Techies blog !:  Still cold and wet in La Coruna. Wind has gone into the west so boats heading North left this morning and others have arrived including a Dutch boat heading to Southern Portugal.
We have yet to master the downwind sailing and the self steering (hydrovane) but plenty of time to learn. The passage took 3 days 9 hours (81 hours) and we covered about 520 miles. We managed to get west of the shipping lanes around Ushant but then crossed back over them in about mid Biscay about where the depth goes from 100 metres to 4,000 metres!! We then were set a little too far east and lost the wind in the final approaches to La Coruna so engine on. With the lack of wind right at the start and at the end we motored for about 30 hours in all but that enabled us to reach La Coruna in the weather window. At other times we were cracking along at about 6 or 7 knots with the wind up our back end.
