Between Christmas and New Year we sailed to Nonsuch Bay, Antigua for a night with Tom, Nadine and Yannick and George. We spent a day anchored off Green Island and saw lots of tame lizards that came right up to us. We went back to English Harbour for two more nights and a final day with Tom et al before they returned to Paris. Yannick entranced the crowds at Shirley Heights, a local viewing spot, by dancing to the steel band.
Early Friday morning we, plus George, sailed for Les Saintes a small group of islands at the south end of Guadeloupe spending one night at anchor at Pigeon Island, a marine nature reserve, half way down the west coast of Guadeloupe. It was a brisk sail and we averaged 7.7 knots for the six hour sail!
We arrived at Les Saintes at 1300 on New Years Eve. A very pretty place with clear water and we spent the evening on Marita with Wolfgang and Corinna--- an excellent BBQ which they had provisioned for as they had arrived a few days earlier.
Next stop is Martinique, where hopefully there will be better internet connections, to put George on a plane back to Antigua to connect to his London flight. Unfortunately George has to spend most of the day flying around the Caribbean as the only flight goes via St Lucia, Barbados, Dominica and many other islands!
