The passage up the Straits of Malacca turned into a three night continuous journey due the poor weather, thunderstorms and the fact that the wind was in the wrong quarter for the main anchorage where we intended to break the journey at Penang.  With everyone’s agreement we decided to tough it out and carry on through to the beaches of Langkawi. It was so good having Will to do a three hour watch and break up the nights dealing with the international shipping lanes and the numerous fishing boats.  The children were brilliant in coping with such a long time and the nights on the yacht, the lightning storms and some rough weather.  Annie had done a fabulous job in bringing all the provisions on board so we wanted for nothing.  She also did so well herself coping with the long rough passage and looking after the children.  We sailed through the third night to arrive off the sheltered cove and beach on Pulau Singa Besar at first light.  The three children were delighted and were over the side into the water as soon as the anchor was set!
