Anchoring in the river was a problem as the eddies, currents, tide and winds kept the yachts moving every which way and not in unison. Several yachts had collided by the time we arrived so were warned we needed to anchor at least 60m apart. We had also been told to expect a surprise when we went ashore, but had not expected the large crowds and the individual welcome we received.  We were also not expecting to find a Media Centre staffed with amazingly bright, English speaking young people and students ready to give us any support we needed.  We even had a police escort everywhere we went.  Ketapang turned out to be the most well operated and organised place we visited, a real highlight.  Such a pity about the smoke haze.

And the large crowds ……

With lots of “Hello Mister, selfie with me” ………..

And the lovely Amelia who ran the very efficient Media Centre
