We left Nagar Ujong at 0530 hoping to make the 60 plus miles to the next anchorage at Lingeh in one day.  However, we had no wind all day and as we had to motor we decided not to stop but to continue overnight directly to Labuan Bajo.  We arrived at 1030 the next morning and dropped anchor off the Eco Lodge hotel.  Despite the write up in the pilot book and on the internet the anchorage was at first very disappointing.  It was very shallow so we were some 500m offshore, the water was dirty, the beach covered in rubbish and at low tide we had to drag the dingy 200m across sand.  By contrast the staff in the Eco Lodge Hotel and the rather smarter place, Puri Sari, next door were delightful and extremely helpful.  Over the next few days we did come to enjoy staying there and Carol and Mike spent an excellent night in the Puri Sari hotel before flying to Bali for Carol’s flight back to UK (but I get ahead of myself).
