Within minutes of dropping anchor at 0830 Danny from Ocean Pearl dingied over to let us know that they had arranged to be taken to the caves at 10am and would we like to join him and Yvonne plus Martin and Angela from Katy M2.  Rather hoping for a sleep after our passage we girded our loins in order not to miss the opportunity and set off in a little dingy convoy along the shoreline with David, our local guide.

We had read a lot about these caves where the wives and families used to hide while the menfolk were fighting.  You can just make out the handprints on the walls.

The caves were well away from normal lines of communication and therefore could only be visited by dingy at high tide with an exciting beach landing and a steep walk through the undergrowth.

The second cave required a climb up the creepers, but first David went ahead to explain to the spirits why we were there.

In this small cave are the bones of his ancestors.  Two village chiefs and their wives.  One had one wife, the other had two.
