Mike was on watch when we had our first sight of land.  It was a far away shadow in the dark but got clearer as dawn broke.

Jackie and Walter on Jean Marie were not far behind us.  They are a very small speck on the horizon about a third of the way in from the left!

The height  and steepness of the island was dramatic…….

And it got more so as we rounded the corner and approached Hanamoana Bay on Fatu Hiva Island.

Anchor down and dug in first time.  Excellent.

Time to enjoy the view and put the champagne on ice.

Then over to Jonathon and Kerry on Sud Oest (they had been our line handlers through the Panama Canal).  Fresh coffee, coconut and pamplemousse.  The perfect welcome to French Polynesia.
