Change of Plan

Over the last few months we have changed our plans and are now heading for
Bundaberg on the east coast of Australia about four hours north of Brisbane
rather than Auckland, New Zealand.

Having done so many long passages and travelled so far since February we are
feeling a bit 'passaged out' and the additional miles to go to New Zealand
became less and less appealing. We want to go on through Indonesia to
Singapore next year so if we went to NZ we would have then had to flog our
way north again adding more miles. We also realised that our New Zealand
family and friends are on South Island while we would be in the north so
they would hardly be on the doorstep to drop in for coffee or for us to get
round in a few days!

In addition, when we lay the boat up to go home and then put her back in the
water to set off again we never travel or do anything other than work on the
boat so we realised that a basic marina in the middle of nothing special in
Australia would serve our purpose rather better than the temptations of the
Bay of Islands. We will travel again in New Zealand but the flight and
motorhome option has become more sensible than the sailing one.
