On the way back from lunch we stopped at a traditional boat building yard.  Very interesting to see how the local boats are constructed and sealed.  A combination of old and new, methods, materials and tools.  Meryon and James from You You were in their element, having both built traditional boats by hand themselves. A new boat like those we saw costs about $15,000 including the engine!

The final part of our programme at Belitung was a dinner hosted by the local Regent.  As it turned out this would be the last time that the majority of the fleet (44 out of an original 47 boats) would be together.  It was a very good evening, not too many speeches, some very professional local dances and a very good buffet dinner. The night finished as always with everyone up dancing, some singers and some karaoke!

The traditional boat building yard….

Definitely not a Halberg Rassey

As it turned out this was the final time all the fleet was together.

The yacht kids give the excellent response speech on behalf of the fleet
