So, Sarah (our niece) departs.  What’s the big deal?  Why a blog all of its own?  Here’s why......

The airport is a 15 minute walk from the boat.

Across the middle of the runway.

With time for a photograph part way across.  (New camera, don’t completely understand how it works so must have messed up the settings, hence the black and white but you get the idea.)

Tashi Delek is in the marina just to the left of the runway.

Then across the road to the check-in desk.

Checked in, through to departures and still plenty of time for Carol and Mike to get back to the boat to take the picture of take off.  Tashi Delek is bottom right.

Sarah had sailed twice before on Tashi Delek with the rest of her family. The first time there had been very little wind and so they had had more of a motoring holiday pottering from anchorage to anchorage in Turkey.  Last year they joined us in Greece where we had some wind but not enough to sail every day and again we were still in ‘another day another bay’ mode rather than making any kind of journey.  We were absolutely thrilled when Sarah asked if she could come again and that she was also up for the full experience of longer passages, night watches, several days at sea and a bit more of a step into the unknown.  There were some very challenging conditions but she took it all in her stride, took the helm with confidence and was tremendous company.  We hope she will be back!
