Several years ago I had asked an experienced cruising sailor what their favourite place had been and they had said, ‘Tobago Cays’ so we were very much looking forward to getting here and were not disappointed.  The coral reefs mean that the water is a glorious colour while they protect the anchorage from the worst of the swell.  Of course because it is very lovely it also tends to get crowded but in the end that didn’t seem to matter.

We were delighted to catch up with Christine and Adrian on Quadrille and quickly hatched a plan to have a lobster takeaway.  Several boat boys ply their wares including lobster BBQ’s on the beach.  One had offered to cook the lobster and bring it out to the boat instead so that’s what we opted for.  He arrived the next day to show us the lobster he had chosen but we were off the boat so he took them to visit Christine and Adrian instead who gave the thumbs up.

Salads were assembled and drinks poured and 7pm came and went.  We had felt that arrangements were a little precarious but needn’t have worried, no more than ten minutes late and full of apologies ….dinner is served……

So huge we could only serve them on oven dishes and trays.

Delicious, delicious, delicious.  We are going back for more.
