Brad and Ann had introduced us to the delightful Lance and Suzy (far side of the table) who were anchored close by.  They know Grenada really well and gave us a lot of advice about places to go, what to do and who to do it with.  It made all the difference to our time on the island.

Lance and Suzy introduced us to the legendary Dennis and his wife Arlene and we had an excellent lunch on the hillside at a restaurant called Little Dipper.  Dennis is a retired meteorologist who runs a net every morning on the long range (SSB) radio.  He broadcasts a general forecast and then  calls up individual boats across the Caribbean for ‘Ground Truthing’.  This, we now know, is the term for checking what is actually happening on the ground weather wise compared to what you think should be happening looking at the forecasting models.  We are now delighted to be part of that process and have already benefitted massively from his personalised forecasts.  He is particularly keen to assist us next year with forecasts for the difficult transit through the ABC islands and along the coasts of Venezuela and Colombia.  Dennis seems fantastically organised and keeps track of where you are and what your plans are so that he can advise accordingly.

Lance and Suzy very kindly lent us their sea kayak for Jack and George to burn up some energy with.  We had to have a go too of course……
