The next challenge is to fight your way through the tough fibrous layers so that you can remove the flesh.  An iron spike is rammed into the ground and then the upright end, shaped like a blunt spear, used to lever the fibre away from the husk.  Looks easier than it is, but once you get the hang of letting the spike do the work it starts to make sense.

Harry was a natural….

 

 

 

He then chose some ripe bananas and got us to eat alternate mouthfuls, banana, coconut, banana, coconut.  Delicious.

 

A thoroughly lovely experience which ended with the walk back and more lovely beach…..

… on which we found a hermit crab living in a spiral shell.  He tucked himself in pretty quickly when he sensed us there, but couldn’t quite get all his legs hidden.
