We hired a car for a couple of weeks and left Michigan for the long drive through Ohio and Pennsylvania to New Jersey where we were going to spend a couple of nights with Lesley and Phillip.  On our way we stayed overnight in a delightful bed and breakfast in Fairfield.  The Victorian house was a family home but over the years had been returned to its former Victorian glory with a parlour and all the furnishings in keeping.  We were served a very welcome cup of tea on a lace covered tray with homemade biscuits.  Bliss.  Breakfast was a particular treat with everything homemade except for the sausages which were made on a local farm.

Note the rather violent blue hire car which, on the plus side, was at least easy to spot in car parks where it was the only one of that colour.  No-one who would actually buy one that colour.

A nice touch, the key-rings were made out of old cutlery.  Any of the Poulten's will recognise the design!
