111 nautical miles run noon to noon.

Sea temperature 23.9 degrees centigrade - ie getting colder and this is good
because we don't get anything like as much of a forest, complete with small
creatures, growing round the hull.

We are sailing dead downwind so have the mainsail hard out to one side and
the genoa poled out on the other. It's a bit rolly but the sea state is
relatively benign so nothing too uncomfortable.

Travis from Moana Roa had made us four lures using parcel wrapping ribbon,
modified lead weights, some serious wire for the trace and chunky great
spinners. We trolled one using a handline made of venetian blind cord
rather than fishing line and in the early evening heard the thump and had a
large Mahi Mahi on the hook. We just towed it while we got everything ready
for the fight so it was a bit tired by the time we pulled it in. Not that
tired though and it still took a lot of effort and energy, especially on
Mikes part, to keep it in the cockpit.

We had a radio net booked with Moana Roa about half an hour later so were
delighted to be able to tell them. Unfortunately we had just got supper
onto the stove so are waiting until tonight for our first fillets which will
be fried in olive oil and butter and served with stir fried Bok Choy and
rice. Not sure the sea state will let us tackle the fiddling of making
sushi this time.

All well, especially having longer sleeping time now we have Hugh with us.
