Overnight, and with no warning, hats appeared on a number of London’s famous statues, including Nelson’s Column.  They were huge, and engineered to withstand the weather but still look fabulous.  Nelson’s had been designed by Locke and Co who had made the Admiral’s original hat………

 

 

 

We thought King George IV and his horse looked particularly splendid……

And General Sir Henry Havelock’s fascinator by Philip Treacey was at just the right angle to reflect Nelson’s Column……
