Title: Quick Update - 14 September 2011, Porto Santo Island

We set off shortly to sail to the main island of Madeira which should take about six hours so is just a day sail. Porto Santo is lovely but very small so we have exhausted what is here including Christopher Columbus’s House. He was the first to understand, and then use the trade winds and currents that made this route to the New World possible. So we are following in his footsteps (or bow-wave to make it a bit more nautical) which is rather nice.
