Cala de san Vicente

We sailed overnight from Menorca and arrived in a lovely bay called Puerto Pollensa on 29th July.  39 years to the day since Carol first came to Mallorca on her first overseas holiday.  The weather conditions meant that we needed to stay here overnight and then move round to the village she had stayed in the following day.

Luckily there was only one other yacht anchored in the tiny bay so we could pretty much take our pick of where to be.  We were amazed by how clear the water was and with a very white sandy bottom it all looked very inviting.  A shame we could only stay for lunch and a walk round before another overnight passage to meet friends in Ibiza.

The weather was very grey and drizzly so nothing looked it’s best but it did all seem a bit down at heel and faded.  Probably fair enough after forty years and in the middle of a recession.  It was all very familiar though and there had been very little new buildings so the place hadn’t been over run.

We had a couple of return visits as teenagers, this time to stay in the Villa Cati.
