ASW - Day 4 Racing

Windy day, 18-23 Knots and away from the coast big seas. 1st race was a windward leeward course which did surprise us as the course card implied would be triangles. About 5 seconds late on the start then a beat in to the shore, flatter water. Did OK. With the higher wind strength decided
on a the asymmetric sail for the day. Once up gained another 3 knots in boat speed. Gybe did not go to plan and got a wrap, eventually got it out and speeded to the leeward mark. Next leg lost a little ground when going through the chop. Next downwind leg
went high on the 2 sails then put the asymmetric up after gybing. Then long haul to the line, came 6th. Next race still windy and had a good beat as we were still with the rest of the fleet. Little slow getting the kite up and the gybe went like a dream. Beat to the finish good. We generally pleased with that race but result somewhat disappointing
as came 7th. Tomorrow last day of racing There should not be as much wind as today and may do better. Who knows? |
