ASW - Day 3

Not such a good day for us. 1st race all OK but something tore the clear window in the jib so you can see the telltalils on the leeward side of sail. The race we were 6th , when checking timings of the race, on corrected
time we were just 8 seconds behind 5th. We dropped spinnaker early probably cost us 30 seconds. Post race dropped jib to patch up the window. Patched window hen hoisted sail, noticed when half way up the luff at top of sail had torn down abut 2 feet. Did not start 2nd race of the day but went in to get sail repaired. Sail
dropped off at sailmakers, should get it back Wednesday. We decided to get heavy weather jib out of dinghy and race the 3rd race of the day. The inner forestay set up and jib hanked on the forestay. We got back out in planty of time for the 3rd race. Unfortunately the wind had dropped a bot and we would be under powered on the beats. At the end of the 1st
beat we did seem a long way down. Had a good spinnaker run. Next beat lost some more and then another good run. In the end we got a 6th. Tomorrow, Wednesday is a lay day so some checking of the forestay require then put the jib back on. If time permits will join the fun and games on Pigeon Beach and the odd competitive event. |
