Day 4 - St Barts - Gustavia

Cloudy morning and calm. A light breeze this afternoon. A couple maintenance items done today. The hatch cover block to secure boards in was a little loose. Unable to tighten so removed screws that were corroded in through being dissimilar metals with the insert. Managed to remove screws and
replace with new ones from stock onboard. Oil leak have been investigating for a few days and believe coming from oil filter as been getting oil on underside. It could not be tightened any more. It also could not be removed from engine by hand. Did not have a filter removing tool
onboard. A little rummage through toolbox onboard and has a G-clamp that did the trick. New filter installed. Ran the engine 5 minutes no leak. Probably not long enough so will check next time used to drive boat around. Whilst running engine reminded me of the water drops seeing in the sump. Investigations found a wet area under a clamp for the sea water pump outlet. Tightened that clamp and added a 2nd one. Again will check next engine run
to move boat. No update yet whether we shall have a race tomorrow. The race to Antigua will happen Saturday, probably get start times Friday. Very warm in the cabin without a breeze to blow through, currently 36C. |
